Now it's not everyday that someone flies in the face of the current recession and opens up a new business.
Well that is exactly what has happened in the sleepy village of Stonham Parva. The village used to have a shop, post office and pub. But, after falling prey to the recent government Post Office cull, only the pub remains -
The Magpie Pub
But today the balance was redressed. Pub Landlord Mark has gone into partnership with his brother, Jason, to open the Magpie Farm Shop.
The shop sells local produce (sourced within a 20 mile radius where possible) so it not only provides a long needed service for the local community, it is also supporting other local businesses.
You will find fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, bread, stamps, chutneys, sweets and gifts just to name few items on its shelves.
In its prominant location on the A140 (adjoined to the pub) it is an ideal stop off for all users of the A140.
So next time you're passing why not pop in and help support 2 local businessmen who are giving something back to the local community.
