Gemma Thompson How to use Facebook for business

Facebook is part of the new business revolution, enabling businesses both small and large to reach vast amounts of people with their message. However there is already a backlash happening against people using social media to ‘sell’ to their friends or followers. It has been said that the average customer needs to have contact with a product or service approximately 7 times before they will seriously consider buying it. From my experience it is important that a person feels they can trust a prod… Continue

Gemma Thompson How to use Advertising Effectively

It has been said that the average customer needs to have contact with a product or service approximately 7 times before they will seriously consider buying it. Is this true? And if it is how can we make contact with our potential customers? From my experience it is important that a person feels they can trust a product before they buy it, and that trust can be formed by repetitive contact and can take some time to build – this is where the traditional wisdom of ‘7 contacts’ comes from. There are… Continue

Jonathan Young Piggybacking - using other people's sites to get instant traffic and first page Google rankings

A couple of days ago I used Digg to get first page rankings for the term 'suffolk restaurant reviews' on Google. There's two main reasons to use this technique: 1. Gemma Thompson How to create an effective Goal

Having a goal seems like the easiest thing in the world, after all dreaming of our hearts desires is automatic. However, as Diana Scharf Hunt said ‘Goals are dreams with deadlines.’ So how do we create an effective goal? There are several key elements that I believe make a goal very powerful. Firstly write it down! Why? Well in 1953 a group of Harvard students were asked which of them had a specific written goal, only 3% of them had. When revisited 20 years later that 3% had accumulated more w… Continue

Rudi Middleton The Credit Crunch Has Been Good For Us So far...

The other day my wife and I looked back at the last 3 months and evaluated the impact the credit crunch has had on us. With the 1000's of jobs lost by many many people in the back of our mind we had to both agree that so far we have been unaffected. In fact our monthly outgoings have reduced. In tune with the financial climate we've looked at where we could save money and now pay much less for pretty much everything. Using www.moneysavingexpert.comContinue

Gemma Thompson Want to grow your business? Grow yourself!

The idea that we should be growing our business year after year has become rather narrow – these days it seems only to mean that we should see an increase in revenue – usually by a minimum of 10%. However one of things that this latest recession has highlighted very strongly to me is that businesses need to grow in different ways. For example, a lot of the high street giants that have recently folded have been stuck in the same rut for years and haven’t taken the time to keep their brands fresh.… Continue

Gemma Thompson How to Price your Product or Service

Many people automatically just multiply the wholesale cost of their product by 200% (or thereabouts) and that figure is what they put on the price ticket. An easy solution I agree, but it’s not the way to impress in the dragons den nor stay afloat in these recession bound times. After all, if you do that how do you truly know what your product is costing you? And more importantly, what your product is worth to your customer? Whether you are launching a new product or service or looking to posit… Continue

Rudi Middleton Flyer Printing - Share Your sources....

Hi Guys I recently learned a good lesson in printing Flyers. Do Not Do It Yourself. So there I was looking to create a quick splash around the Diss area by having an A6 leaflet dropped along with the Dispatch magazine. I know the guy who delivers the Dispatch magazine and he offers to drop 3 leaflets, placing them on top of the mag as he delivers. So I design my leaflet then have it refused by head office because of an errant image only they are allowed to create. Alarm bells sh… Continue
